December 27, 2009

As I'm writing this, you are sound asleep on my lap. I put you up to bed around 8:30 and although it is now almost midnight, you did not fall asleep until mere minutes ago. I had to make nearly twelve trips up the steps to tell you to "get in bed, put the hamster away, no books!, STAY IN BED!, stop screaming, get out of the baby doll crib, GET BACK IN BED!" You take hours to get settled at nighttime - not sure why?! Finally, you crept down the creaky stairs asking if you could sleep in my bed. After I carefully explained (twice!) that you needed to get back in bed and I would bring you in bed with me when I came up, you just looked at me and said, "I love you, mom." I smiled and said, it's time to get back in bed! You smiled and asked if I could carry you up.

I've lost the battle yet again.

I set my book down on the chair next to me and pulled you up onto my lap. In a matter of seconds, you put your thumb in your mouth, caressed your lovey, and snuggled right into your spot in my arms. I'm amazed at how well your little body folds into mine. I am not a big fan of snuggling...I usually feel claustrophobic and overheated, but with you, I can hold you tight in my arms all night long. We just fit together. My favorite thing is when you climb into my bed at night (yes, you climb in EVERY night around 3 a.m.) and say, "Can I way on your bewwey?" I'm here to say that my belly is yours, my Molly, indefinitely!
I've been meaning to write a post this week for your book. Every time I get the chance to come to the computer, I sit and stare at your picture and wonder just where to begin. You are doing such amazing things and I want to capture them all. I want you to know how my whole body melts when you smile, how your indistinguishable words are always clear as a bell to me, how I just love your stubbornness and feisty attitude. You can be an angel who wants to make others feel so happy one minute, then change and be Molly the meanie - where no one should ever attempt to cross you. You are already so complex and special! And you are only 2!
You are wearing underwear all day (diapers only at night!) and every time you go potty, you say you need "privavee"! You love to take baths, you can count till I ask you to stop! You know all the words to songs on the radio and you love to sing! You have a very silly and goofy side to you where you like to squeal with delight and say funny things. You are a very picky eater - you love bananas, apples, cheese, eggs, sausage, and butter bread! You rarely eat at mealtimes - you prefer to munch all day. You are still just a tiny peanut and I love that you fold up so nicely in my arms. You love to dress up and play with your hamsters. You adore your sister, but can also stand alone and try to boss her around if it is something you feel passionate about. You love Word World, Mickey Mouse Club House, Dora, and Diego. You prefer to be the one to turn the t.v. off, the lights off, shut the refrigerator, feed the dog. You don't like other people doing your thing!
As you can see, I have many things to say about you! I'm going to have to hold off until another night, though. You are snuggling me so closely right now and I am tired. I think it's time we head to bed. Just know that when you hold me at night, you wrap your arms around my heart. :)

June 2009

I often say to you, "You're so special to me." It's one of my favorite things to say to you because I mean every word. You. Are. So. Special. To. Me. I love you!

Lately, when I say it to you, you think it is hilarious to respond with "so special to Daddy" or "so special to Bronson." You just laugh and laugh and laugh!

May 2009

Ok, so the potty thing that day was a fluke. We've decided to wait until summer. You are growing so fast! You love your sister, "Hay yah". You love to give True Love's Kiss and snuggle!

You can count to three, love Word World and often follow your sister. You have very independent times when you cross your arms, look away, and say "NO." You love popsicles, "pock it buls" you say! You are drinking out of a big girl cup! You say "I dee dat!" (I do that). I'm so proud!

February 24, 2009

Wow! Monie! Today you walked up to me and said, "poop." I checked your diaper and you handn't gone. I asked if you wanted to try the potty (you've been pulling your pants down and letting us know when you need a diaper, but you never want to sit on the potty). I sat you down and went to get you some juice. When I came back, you had pee'd and pooped in the potty! You are so smart! YEAH!!!!

February 15, 2009

You are growing so fast! You are now 20 months old and really starting to talk. You love to "nuggle" with your luv luv and anyone who is willing!
You can count to 5 and point to all body parts. You love to do whatever Sarah does! You love "hockley meelk" (chocolate milk). Your hair is often very crazy, but you love to be a ragamuffin! You still adore shoes - try every pair on and walk around the room. You are very interested in the potty - you go with me and "Ra Ra" (Sarah) and clap when we go! You say "Bye pee pee!" You pull your pants down whenever you have a wet diaper and say pee pee. When I get a chance, we'll plan a naked weekend and you'll get to wear big girl underwear. I just can't get over how adorable you are. So independent and sure of what you want. Don't ever change!

Molly on New Years Eve 2009
Kelley, Molly and Uncle Tegan

Ah Molly. This entry is sad to me. I must've been very busy this day, because I only wrote down a few of your sayings. It seems that with 2 kids, time just disappears, and you are reaching and passing milestones before I can even breathe, let alone write them down! Just know that I love you very much and I'd rather be spending my time with you, enjoying your accomplishments, than away from you, writing them down!

"Daint Du" (thank you)
"Mee-lk" (milk) You often say "Must have meelk!" It makes me laugh :) You also learned and mastered the word NO and use it often!

October 24, 2008

You are so fun! Your new words are:

"bie" (bite)
"Hi and Bye"
"Yeah!" for everything!
"Ra Ra" (Sarah)
"mama, dada, meme"
"luv-luv" (lovey)

Your favorite things are your puppy, lovey, bananas, popsicles, cheese, and nu-nu's (noodles).
You love to try on shoes and wear them around the house! I'm loving every bit of you!

July 20, 2008

Molly I just love your happy go lucky attitude! You are saying baby, mama, ball, dada, and ma (more)! You love to play with your sister, eat any kind of fruit, and run around the house! You have a new infactuation with shoes! You empty out all our shoes from the shoe bench and try to fit all the shoes onto your feet. You get angry when you can't get some on. I can already tell you are going to have a shoe fetish! You have to sleep with a little blanket we call Lovey. You love to look at books and play ball. I am loving watching you grow!

June 16, 2008

Molly, you are the most happy and smiley baby ever! You are walking all over the placce now. You are very attached to your bottle, which makes me nervous because its almost your birthday when I'd like to stop using them! Your hair is growing and you constantly say "BA!" You play laughing games with me when I laugh, you repeat, and so on. You love to look at books and hug your baby dolls. You watch your sister often but are usually content to do your own thing! I love you!

May 11, 2008

You are such a big girl, Molly! You are WALKING! 5-10 steps at a time! You like to drop down and crawl because it is faster when you are trying to keep up with your sister. You are such a happy kid! You've been saying mama, baba, and uh oh. You love to give kisses to your baby.
I just love you darling! You are so special to me and I am having so much fun watching you grow!

February 2008 (7-8 months old)

First tooth! Bottom left - soooo cute! :)

Molly - you are my happy baby! You went to the doctor this week. Double ear infection, but you'd never know that you weren't feeling good. You are always so smiley! You are attempting to stand and walk - the motions are there, but not the balance. You love bananas and cheerios. You smile everytime Sarah talks to you, but cry if she comes too close because she likes to bully you! You are a thumb sucker when you're really tired, but that's the only time! You are teething and love to put things in your mouth. You have been caught a few times recently splashing your hands in the toilet...you LOVE the water!
I'm so excited to watch you grow! I love you!

January 21, 2008 (7 months old)

First fever today. You are such a trooper that you don't even seem sick. It may just be teething but you let me snuggle you and rock you, and I LOVE IT! You are crawling all over the place! You like to pull yourself up to table toys and stand. You are so stong! I just love your happy demeanor - you never stop smiling! :) You only cry when you're tired or hungry. You just love your big sister! You watch her all the time. She isn't completely fond of you yet - she doesn't like sharing toys or animals but you just roll with it and keep on smiling. I love talking and singing to you. My nickname for you has become Molly Moo! I can always make you smile by singing "found a peanut, found a peanut..." You just love it! Another song I created goes like this... "Miss Molly Moo, moo, moo. Lives in a zoo, zoo zoo." You laugh and laugh

December 31, 2007 (6 months old)

Molly Moo, you are CRAWLING! You can also sit up all by yourself! SO BIG! You are still the most happy baby I know! Smiles, smiles, smiles! You are also starting to eat table foods - you love mashed potatoes! YUM!

November 23, 2007 (5 months old)

I'm writing this book for you to capture all the great things you do while growing up. We love having you in our family! You are so adorable! You smile all the time and you LOVE your daddy. You can fuss all you want with me, but you immediately smile when Daddy comes in. You are already eating baby food - not a big fan of peas, but you love carrots and sweet potatoes! Your nose even has an orange tint to it because you eat so many sweet potatoes! You can roll over too! You get from one side of the room to the other by rolling. You love the Christmas tree. You love watching your sister, Sarah, and Bronson. You've been sleeping through the night for months and you love to look at yourself in the mirror. You talk and coo so much! I love you so much darlin'!

July 18, 2007

Oh Molly! The day you were born was one of the greatest days of my life! I've been waiting so long to finally meet you! I was due on June 22, which was a Friday, but you had your own plan and decided to hold out a little longer. I went into the hospital early on June 25 to be induced- I was tired of waiting for you to come out! I wanted you NOW!

Mommy and Daddy debated long and hard about what to name our new little baby. We didn't talk about names until we knew that you were a baby girl. We orignially really liked the name Charlotte. We considered names like Hadley, Mary, and Carolyn, but just didn't feel that any of those were right. While I was pregnant, you were a maniac! You'd flip around and kick me like crazy - I needed a name to capture your maniac side! We decided that maniac Molly would be perfect! I love the name Molly and although Daddy once had a dog named Molly, we knew you'd be a beautiful little Molly. We also wanted to include Meme and Grandma somehow into your name, so we chose Carolyn as your middle name. Carol for Grandma, and the Lyn was for Meme's middle name, Lynn. I couldn't wait to meet my Molly!
Then, when I was just about to start pushing, I panicked and thought, "what if this baby is a boy??? We don't have a boy name!" And Daddy and I thought for a minute and shouted out names like Henry, Brady, David. Nothing decided for sure, you were ready!
When you were ready to come out, you were such a quick and easy labor! I was thrilled to meet you and hold you all night!

Daddy went home to sleep and take care of Sarah and Bronson, and you and I stayed in our room together. I woke up often just to touch you and look at your beautiful face. You are so tiny!

At 3 a.m. that first night, a nurse came in and woke me up. She wanted to talk to me about a possible problem. Mind you, I was still pretty drugged, half asleep, and alone. This woman felt it imperitive to discuss a problem right then. She said there was a small hole near the bottom of your spine. This could be indicative of spina bifida, which could mean difficulties in life. She suggested that I schedule a catscan and other tests to identify the problem. Then she left.

My

World

Crumbled...

I was alone with my tiny new baby, sad, worried, and anxious to have answers. The next day, I explained it all to Daddy, who, strong support system that he is, calmed me and reassured me that everything would be okay. I went home and researched everything I could about Spina Bifida. I read that it was possible you may not walk, have difficulty with coordination, potty training issues, etc. I was devistated. We scheduled an appointment with Dr. Shollenberger and took you in immediately.

She looked you over and reassured me that although you had a small hole, your spine seemed to be fused and you had good strong movement of your legs. She still scheduled more testing at the Cleveland Clinic, but she felt confident that worse case scenario, you'd have some coordination problems. We left feeling a little better.

I took you to get more testing done and everything came back normal. I was elated! I worried a bit about possible problems you'd encounter as a result of this, but I was grateful that you would walk! You are my miracle and I love you more than you will ever know!

Welcome!

Good Golly Miss Molly! This blog has been created especially for my baby, Molly Carolyn. She is already 2 1/2, and I feel as though some days she is just growing too quickly! When she was born, I began writing in notebook - I'd record milestones she'd reached, new phrases she would murmur, or anything else that I felt would be exciting to re-live one day when she was older. As I've been trying to keep up with her notebook, I've come across a few obstacles. For example, the other day, when trying to add a new comment to her book, I found that I had accidently packed it away in our storage cabinet as we prepare to move! I've also spilled coffee and milk on it, the dog has slobbered on it, and who knows what else has touched it! So, I've decided to transfer my personal messages to a blog, where eventually I will print out and make a book for Miss Molly. Feel free to read up on her latest endeavors, but please know that my heart and soul go into each entry for my little girl. There is no one like Molly and I feel so blessed to have her in my life :) Enjoy!
